project
8GG is in the process of preparing a comprehensive performance project consisting of body movement, soundscape, videoscape and live performance.
A cross-regional and inter-disciplinary project 8GG seeks to use digital techniques to create an open and mobile space infused with visual and audio elements. Meanwhile, the performers'''' physical movements, facial expressions and voice interact to trigger new images and new sounds.
So within this space the single dancer is not merely a solo performer but through the movement of the body is generating random interactive as well as a constantly changing visual landscape which in turn impacts on the dancer''''s performance. This interaction will be amplified incrementally and finalize in a random but interlinked unity.
In reality the choreographies and stage settings are generated on the laptop which reproduce the real and virtual scenes coming into creator''''s mind. The computer is not limited to this role. It is the generator of an ever expanding dance space, a hypnotist the transforms the theatre toward illusions and dreams. More importantly, as active participants in the performance and by introducing numerous images, the computer ushers in countless new characters to co-act during the process with the actual stage performers.
The intention of this project is benefit from the computer and programming tools to free the body movement of the performers to a greater extent and help them tap their potential and find new ways in choreography. At the same time, with the assistance of technology a much simpler staging is required but which a deepened kind of expression.
Improvisation and collaboration are key to this work. So performers with an open performance style are preferable - those who can follow their passion through exclaiming, singing or making sounds as they play on the stage.
We are looking forward to a very free cooperation with performing artists coming from different places and having different experiences. The goal of the UK trip financed by "Artist Links" is to locate passionate dancers, sound mimicker and performing troupes of all kinds who are interested. We will discuss the possibilities of cooperation, conduct trial performances and finally establish a relative constant partnership with appropriate artists and groups. Furthermore, we expect, if possible, to hold an audio-visual exhibition and show on a small scale so as to have a more in-depth communication with local artists.
We thanks to British Council and Artist Links''s support and thanks to Ophelia Huang and Simon Kirby selflessly help and dear ann, bodydataspace friends
